In celebration of May as Historic Preservation Month, the Kernersville Museum and Körner’s Folly are teaming up to create the History Mystery Hunt, a fun, family-friendly scavenger hunt in historic Downtown Kernersville! Supported by the Kernersville Chamber of Commerce, this in-person, but distanced event will explore the fascinating stories behind our community’s historic landmarks.

Using a digital scavenger hunt app, teams of 4-6 people will compete to finish this amazing race while learning more about our town’s history. Will your team win the Grand Prize for finishing first? Prizes also offered for best team costume and most original team name, with extra points earned for historical references.

Team registration includes limited edition t-shirts, a morning of fun history-hunting, and entrance into a drawing for great local prizes. Registration is limited to 20 teams. Each team must have one smartphone with access to cellular data to download and use the app.

The event begins at 9am at the Kernersville Museum (127 W Mountain St, Kernersville, NC) and ends at Korner’s Folly (413 S Main St, Kernersville, NC) at 11:30am. They are located approximately .5 miles apart, an easy walking distance. Parking is available at both locations or in between at the Paul J. Ciener Botanical Garden or Main Street United Methodist Church.

You will check in at the Kernersville Museum and receive your team t-shirts and be given all information needed to complete the History Mystery Hunt throughout Downtown Kernersville.  Please follow all safety signals for walking downtown and be aware of traffic – streets will not be closed for this event. Remember to wear comfortable clothing and shoes and bring water to stay hydrated, complimentary snack packs will be provided upon check-in. Masks and social distancing will be required based on the current health guidelines in North Carolina and Forsyth County at the time of the event.
